Sleeve is an app for listening to one album, start to finish, each day. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it's used — in short, very little, since Sleeve has no ads, no user accounts, and no third-party tracking.
Sleeve is developed by an independent developer ("we," "us"), who acts as the data controller for the limited data described below.
Sleeve doesn't ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email, or any personal profile. There is no login of any kind.
Everything you do in Sleeve — your active route, listening history, star ratings, notes, streak, and custom routes — is stored locally on your device.
To keep that data available across your own devices, Sleeve also stores it in your personal iCloud account, using Apple's standard iCloud key–value storage tied to your Apple ID. This data is encrypted and managed by Apple; Sleeve has no server of its own and never receives or stores this data anywhere outside your device and your own iCloud account.
Separately, if you have iCloud Backup enabled at the iOS system level, your device's general backup may also include Sleeve's local app data as part of your overall phone backup. This is a feature of iOS itself, not something Sleeve controls or initiates, and is distinct from the iCloud sync described above.
If you pick a photo for a custom route's cover, that photo is copied into the app's private storage on your device only — it is never uploaded anywhere and never included in iCloud sync.
Sleeve has an optional daily reminder, off by default and turned on only if you enable it in Settings. Turning it on asks iOS for notification permission and schedules a single recurring reminder directly on your device using Apple's own notification system. The reminder's text is fixed ("Today's album is waiting for you") and nothing about your listening history, streak, or routes is read to decide whether it fires or included in it — scheduling and delivery happen entirely on-device, the same way an alarm would, with no server involved and nothing sent anywhere.
When you build a custom route, Sleeve looks up album details (title, artist, cover art, genre, release year) using two public music catalog APIs — Apple's iTunes Search API and Deezer's API — querying both to find as many matching albums as possible. Only the search text you type is sent to either service — no personal or device data is included. This lookup is necessary to provide the core functionality you're requesting (finding album information), which is our legal basis for this processing under GDPR.
If you create a Recommended route, the artists and genres you pick are sent as simple text or ID lookups to two more public music services — Last.fm and fanart.tv — to find similar music and artist photos. The album details shown in the app still come from the same catalog lookup described above. No personal or device data is included in these queries, and neither service stores anything on Sleeve's behalf. This processing is necessary to provide the Recommended-route feature you're using, which is our legal basis under GDPR.
Tapping "Open in Spotify / Apple Music / Tidal" opens that service with a search query for the album you're viewing. Sleeve does not share any other information with these services, and what happens after you leave Sleeve is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
Sleeve+ purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple's App Store, using RevenueCat (a subscription-management service) to confirm your purchase status. Sleeve never sees or stores your payment details.
RevenueCat receives a randomly generated identifier and your purchase/subscription status. As with most SDKs that make network requests, RevenueCat's servers may also incidentally receive technical data such as your device's IP address and basic device/app metadata as part of normal request handling. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment details from Sleeve. For full detail on what RevenueCat collects and how it's used, see RevenueCat's own privacy policy.
This processing is necessary to fulfill our contract with you (verifying the subscription you purchased), which is our legal basis under GDPR.
You can also erase your data directly from within Sleeve at any time, without deleting the app: Settings → Data → Delete all data. This clears your local listening history, routes, ratings, and streak, and overwrites your iCloud copy with a fresh empty state — you'll be returned to onboarding as if starting fresh.
Deleting the app removes its local data from your device. Your iCloud copy lives entirely in your own Apple account — Sleeve has no server, so the developer has no access to it and cannot delete it on your behalf. To remove it yourself: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → Sleeve, then turn off iCloud for Sleeve and choose to delete the data from iCloud. If you have iOS device backups enabled, you can manage or delete those separately via Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Backups. Notifications can be turned off any time from Sleeve's own Settings screen, or from iOS's own Settings → Notifications → Sleeve.
Because Sleeve has no server and no account system, we hold no personal data of yours to access, correct, port, or delete on request — everything lives on your device and in your own Apple account, under your own control. If you're in the EU/EEA, UK, or California and have questions about your rights under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA as they apply here, contact us using the details below and we'll help however we can, though in practice there's nothing on our end to look up.
Data is retained locally and in your iCloud account only until you delete the app, disable sync, or remove the data yourself as described above — Sleeve does not set any separate retention period.
Sleeve is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
